Introduction

The J/24 Class is a one design boat, with the principle that all boats are identical with respect to what is defined in the Class Rules. Measurement is the process whereby the class ensures that all boats comply with the class rules, and continue to do so. Measurement is effected by having class certified Measurers perform a number of measurements on the hull, appendages, deck , rig and sails to make sure these items fit within the Class Rules. Once the boat "measures in", the data is entered in the national measurement data base and a Measurement Certificate is provided to the owner. The Measurement Certificate is confirmation that the boat is a "legal" J/24 and can race as such.

Measurers can be helpful to owners new to the class in answering questions about the Class Rules, the measurement process and how to prepare a boat to be measured. You should feel free to contact a Measurer in your area for assistance.
